49. Make Your Own Dachshund Dog Bed

Here are instructions for making a homemade dog bed with removable washable cover. This will work for any small dog of course.

For an oval shaped Dog Bed you will need:

One Manmade-Foam Pillow
One Pillowcase
Needle and Thread
Non Permanent Pen
Scissors
Velcro or zipper

For a rectangular dog bed, you will need:

One Manmade-Foam Pillow
One Pillowcase!

Looking at the above, you can probably guess just how simple it is. All you do for the rectangular dog bed is put the pillow in the pillow case, although if you don’t want your pet dachshund climbing inside the pillowcase itself, you may want to sew a zipper or velcro on the open end!

And for the oval dog bed, simply punch the corners of the pillow inward (yes, with your fist – pretend it’s your boss or something!) Then turn the pillowcase inside-out, and draw a curve on each corner, until you have an oval shape. Then sew on the line preferably with a machine, but by hand will do, if you can sew small and in a smooth line! Cut excess fabric, zig-zag or handsew the edges for added strength, attach velcro to fasten (it’s easier than sewing a zipper) turn back the proper way, stuff your pillow inside - and voila! Your new Dog bed. Your doxie will LOVE it!
