Here's a great gift for dachshund owners who love reading. Original bookends made of a two-part sculpture of a dachshund.

It's available from Barnes and Noble Here.

138. More Dachshund Art

Found this on etsy.com where there are tons of dachshund art by lots of talented folk. It was difficult to choose a favorite, but as I love lots of color, this had to be the one.

It is called Murphy The Dachshund, and is by Rebecca Collins (artpaw) who has her own site at Artpaw.com

If you are creative and are wondering how to sell your images online, Etsy might be a good place to start.

130. Another Blasutta Dachshund

There are so many images of Mary's that I'd like to put up here, but I'll just stick with two.

I'm going away for the weekend but I'll have plenty dachshund tales (or should that be tails?) when I return.

128. More Dachshund Art

I’ve seen Mary Lynn Blasutta’s work before but I didn’t know just how many dachshunds she has featured until now. She has been illustrating ad campaigns, book covers and magazines for over 25 years. She often has dogs in her work. Other favorite breeds she uses are poodles and Scottish terriers. I love her retro style.

See lots of her work here: http://www.blasutta.net/

She clearly loves shoes too!

119. Dachshund Art

Here’s some of my own artwork from a photo I took of 1 year old miniature dachshund, Gemma.

She got the canine equivalent of ‘Red Eye’ which is ‘Green Eye’! So I put her for a spin in Photoshop. Actually I thought she looked cool with emerald neon pupils so I'll publish the original.

Then I got a bit carried away and went for a pop art look. I’m trying to make a dachshund logo that hasn’t been done before, and this is a different position to most dachshund logos. Still needs more work though.

97. Dachshund Painting

Vicky Busby’s impressionist style paintings are amazing. I love the vibrant colors in her dachshund painting above. She also managed to capture the animation of the happy little dog playing. And there’s a brilliant cat painting on her website too at studio-629.com

92. Dachshund Vintage Art

Love this print, but you may need to do some refinancing to afford it, especially the large poster. The prices are in GBP so you basically double them to get the US dollars.

77. Dachshund Bed Hog

You need to buy the Chilly dog bed below when this begins to happen (above!)

Where the dog literally comes between you and your spouse. I love this painting on the china plate of the Dachshund Bed Hog, by Gary Patterson – they DO lay exactly like that, don’t they? Priceless!

I also like extra little details such as the pictures on the wall, indicating that doxies are so long, they won’t fit onto just one picture!

Please feel free to leave a comment anywhwere on my blog - I'd love to hear from you!

68. Addictive Dachshund Cartoon Game

Every now and again, I get sidetracked when I should be researching what dachshunds are getting up to in the world, but when you find an archive of excellent cartoons such as those at notinmybackyard.com, it’s almost impossible to tear yourself away.

And when you finally do, you discover a game that is equally addictive! But the chances are, if I’ve just spent 15 mins playing a game on a dachshund site because it’s great, then you’ll probably love it too!

(I loved it because I won every time except once, when I wasn’t concentrating enough!)

Go here to access the game http://notinmybackyard.com/doghouse/memory

and be sure to check out the rest of the site by talented cartoonist, Dale Taylor.

65. Dachshund Puppy Applique Quilt Pattern

This is a dachshund puppy quilt pattern, but what’s to stop you using the same design for collage artwork, greeting cards, T shirts, hats, pins, stained glass work, embroidery or jewellery?

Maybe you can think of a better use for the design, but it’s free at fourtwinsisters.com so amble down there to see what else you can find.

62. Dachshund Trivia Lens on Squidoo

I’ve made a ‘lens’ on Squidoo called Dachshund Trivia, so I’ll be posting stories and trivia up on there too, plus there are added dachshund resources, if you scroll down the page, or lens rather! Being a photographer, lens has a very different meaning in my world! To me the ‘lens’ on Squiddo is a profile, but there you go; each to his own.

I’ve yet to find out all that the site does, but I’ve already found lots of other interesting lenses created by other people. The main benefit though is to spread the word on whatever topic your lens is about, and gain lots of visitors to your site or blog. To see my Dachshund Trivia lens go to http://www.squidoo.com/dachshundtrivia/

61. Famous Dachshund Owners

Queen Victoria loved Dachshunds, Kaiser Wilhelm II’s dachshund was buried beside him, and Queen Margrethe, of Denmark, appealed for help when her dachsie Zenobie, went missing, and thousands of her subjects searched forests waving sausages, but sadly he was never found. Napoleon Bonaparte, J.D. Salinger and Plato also loved the breed.

Picasso’s dachshund, Lump, is said to have inspired his work, and David Hockney’s dachshunds have featured in his paintings.

55. Brits May Not Be Allowed To Snap Their Dachshunds

The UK government is trying to pass a law that will heavily restrict photography in public places. At the moment you can photograph anyone or any dog you like in a public place in Britain. No-one is given the right to privacy. But if the law is passed you will have to have an ID card to be allowed the same freedom.

I do not know who will be eligible for ID passes, but how would this affect tourists or parents, or amateur photographers or pet owners? And how would it even be policed what with inconspicuous devices such as camera cellphones?

One thing’s certain, my favourite dog photographers could not have taken most of their best work with such a law in place. I mean they’d never put a ban on oil painting, or sculpting!

53. Dachshund Notecards

I love this photograph! I’d love to run a caption competition for this – I mean what exactly is this dog thinking?
Is it ‘Help I’m lost!’?
‘Don’t even THINK about putting a leash on me!’
or ‘OK, when are you gonna be done doing those flashes?’ (I can see in his eyes the reflections of studio flashlights)

48. No Gay Dachshunds’ Tails!

According to the Dachshund Club of America, a dachshund’s tail should be “set in continuation with the spine, extending without kinks, twist, or pronounced curvature, and not carried too gaily”

So it’s forbidden for your dachshund to be too happy.

Or gay!

43. Miss Doxie’s Dachshunds

I’ve found a brilliant story about dachshunds at bathtime. It had me in stitches laughing and it is illustrated with an abundance of cartoons to demonstrate fully the frustration and hilarity of such an event.

I’ll have to go back there and read more of Miss Doxie’s site, but for now, go and take a look Here.
